Jimmy Cohon Unhappy with Seth McGuire

After Seth McGuire’s accident during green flag stops, many were confused by the 6’s lack of judgement as he tried to correct the car out of the dirt gravel and back onto the racing surface. In the process, McGuire took out Jimmy Cohon as well as Aaron Gallagher. Cohon, who is having a nightmare season, met with the media following the race.

“At this point I’m just expecting something bad to happen every week.” he said, “What’s frustrating is how it is happening. We’ve got a rookie driving way over his head, making stupid decisions out there and ruining the races of not only Aaron and I, but I’d be upset if I’m Carson Crompton right now too. Just an embarrassing thirty seconds for the kid there. I’m at a loss for words.”

McGuire was not reached for comment and declined availability to the media center following the race. Seth McGuire has had a real nice rookie campaign so far this season, but clearly things are getting a bit tough for him in his Giant Tiger Dodge.

Dwyer posts quiet top-10, extends points advantage

If there’s one thing this season that has stayed consistent, it is the finishes of star rookie Caine Dwyer. The rookie sensation continues to pile up strong finishes each week. His worst finish was still in the top-20, which, despite a points penalty last week, keeps him solidly in position to win the 2018 title. He backed it all up this weekend with a solid drive from 33rd up to his 8th finishing position, and exclaimed it is all about the consistency.

“Yeah, obviously I would love to get my first win, but these guys just continue to pump out good race cars for me week after week.” he said, “It’s impressive what we are doing here. We know what to focus on, we know if we have a bad qualifying effort that we aren’t in trouble, and we come back home with good finishes every race. I’m very impressed and very confident in our group.”

Dwyer has gained quite a bit of hatred on social media platforms and from fans all over the world for his penalty, in addition to his championship performance thus far, but he says that doesn’t bother him.

“You can’t change what people think of you sometimes. We’re here to run well and get a title, and when people don’t like you when you haven’t done anything but that, it’s a good sign you’re doing well. We love it, it fuels us. We’re here to stay.”
