Watkins Advances to First WRA Circle-K Cup Series Start
Andy Watkins will make his first ever WRA Circle-K Cup Series race this weekend in Huntington Beach, the site of the Warner Music 200. To Watkins, it's a huge monkey off of both him and the team's back.
"This is great. We can breathe easily now that we are actually going to be in a race this season. The guys at the shop have been working 24/7 to repair our cars and get this road course set-up working right. Heck of a job, I say. We qualified really well and finishing 3rd is amazing!"
As Watkins stated, he qualified really well for the qualifying race, 8th and he finished 3rd in the 12 lap dash, just 1.06 seconds behind the qualifying race winner Daniel Leckliter. Now Watkins just has to worry about qualifying well for the Warner Music 200.

Spoiler:
Watkins Finishes A Strong 11th at Huntington Beach
After failing to qualify at Oklahoma City, Andy Watkins and the entire Lee Darnahan Racing team were determined to turn their season around at the second race of the season at Huntington Beach. Watkins, who race his way into the field, qualified an outstanding 3rd with a time of 1.34.711 seconds for the Warner Music 200. He would have a great view of the front of the field.
Watkins stayed out of trouble for most of the race, avoiding the hazardous Snake and turn 3 areas, but managed to find a bit of trouble on pit road. While making his green flag pit stops, he nearly clipped a car (#79?) and then bumped into the Fortner Motorsports #7 driven by Brandon Lashley. There was very minimal damage and both Watkins and Lashley drove on to solid finishes. Watkins ended up 11th after all was said and done.
"That was just what we needed. Great runs all week from practice to the qualifying races to qualifying and finally the race! I'd like to thank Lee, the team, and Google for this great run! I'd also like to apologize to Billy Fortner and Brandon Lashley. That was a racing incident and a mistake on my part. Luckily it didn't make too much damage, but Lashley finished in front of me!" joked Watkins.
Andy now moves all the way up from 61st in the points to 27th with that top-15 run, 33 points behind points leader Eric Webler.

Spoiler:
Bell gets first win of 2012, Wilson comments on learning curve
Preston Bell: Awesome work by everyone this week! Ah had a feelin' we could get a great result this week an' we did. We've done really well in upgradin' our Cup program, but not so much on the KNS side of thangs. Ah hope this win'll be a great morale booster for the team as a whole.
Nique Wilson: Aside from a few people mistakin' me as a girl due ta my name, dis weekend was good. Lemme clear dis up: I'm a guy. Not a girl. Dis week was a major learning curve fo' me an' I won't forget it.
Reed Church: We need to pick sh*t up or we're gonna be in trouble. I'm working towards getting new engine parts to improve our performance so we're not in 40th-42nd all season long. This is just another hill to navigate.
