PostSubject: Climbing the AARO ladder...   Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:35 pm

Prerequisites on how to get to certain AARO series. This will apply to all AARO leagues from this point on. We'll start from the lower leagues and move on up. If you'd like your league listed/removed/changed, either edit the post (admins only, in this case) or contact me in some way.

Logitech National Tour

- Almost anything in this series will fly, from grizzled local vets to green rookies in subpar equipment. However, you don't have to start a driver off here in order to enter AAPT or Trucks.

Aflac All Pro Tour and Pennzoil Truck Series

- Requires previous racing experience. (This can be either AARO-sanctioned or established in the driver's backstory.)
- Must be a realistic entry. Big-name sponsors should not be on practically all of the cars/trucks in these two series, as is the case in AERS.
- You can attempt to sign the driver to a top team's development team, or establish your own team.

AMP Energy Racing Series

- Must have qualified for 10 All Pro Tour events, OR completed 10 Truck events, OR competed full time in some other league. (Some exceptions apply here)
- If a team has any interest in bringing your driver into the AERS, they will notify you. Consider this your first step into becoming an AERS driver. If you do well in the rest of your races, you should be fine. Scouting is going to play into a bigger role from now on like I originally wanted it to.
- Contract offer. I can safely say that with the trend we have going here, we will only be getting at most 2 new teams each year. In order to get into the AERS, you're going to have to get offered a contract if a team has an opening.
- Invite only. Like I said, contract offers are the only way in. The only way you're getting in without an offer is during any registration for one off races (Which are usually a good thing for upcoming drivers...).
- Part-time teams will not be registered for either, they will be done within an organization.
- After one year of your driver being in the AERS, you may bring up your own team if you wish.

Some tips for moving up quicker
- Do good. Derpderpderp
- Register your drivers in as many one-off races/series' as you can, but make it realistic.
- Don't think I don't read all AARO driver comments. I do. If you show interest in the league, that is a plus. You also want to advertise your driver alot, sometimes even to teams with open slots.
- Don't ask for an upper league ride when registrations are over/haven't started. This is the easiest way to get team owners to pass up on your driver.
- Stay active. Not only being on the forums and commenting on races and such, but keep your driver(s) active. If your driver is pissed, express his mood somewhere. Facespace is useful.
- I (don't know about the other team owners...) also like following rivalries/controversial stories in all leagues. So it is a good idea to get your driver involved in one of those for extra attention.

To all team owners looking to bring in new drivers, whether it be AERS, AYG, Trucks or ALNT, please take a look/find out if the driver has met the expectations to get into the particular league. And yes, this applies to your drivers too. I want to trim down the amount of total n00bs entering the AERS.

That is all for this post. If you want to suggest something, or want to share your thoughts about it, go right on ahead, I'll be sure to look it over.

Thanks.

I think requiring previous experience in all the ladder series is a mistake. The way it's written now it will take someone 5 seasons to get a driver to AERS...

If you go quick, it should really only take 2/3 seasons.

You're right, my bad, I thought the Truck requirement was regional experience, not just racing experience.
